Today’s question comes from Anil Kumar, star quizzer and my ‘corporate team’ mate! Originally from Hyderabad, he has been a QFI regular for the last four years after having moved here on work.

Identify both the players and connect.

Salvatore Schillaci (Visual 1) was nicknamed ‘Toto’. Sebastien Squillaci (Visual 2) has a surname which sounds like ‘Schillaci’, as a result of which, he also has been nicknamed ‘Toto’.

    The top visual Uncle is Salvatore Schillaci, nicknamed Toto. At the bottom, we see former Lyonnais player, now with Sevilla, a guy named Sebastian Squillaci. Now, there is really no connection between the two per se. But because Squillaci SOUNDS like Schillaci (to some people), his nickname (to some people) also become Toto.

    In a freak of nature, this band (to some people) was later nicknamed Salvatore Schillaci:

  4. Visual 2 is Sebastien Squillachi, whose nickname is “Toto” Becoz his surname resembles Toto Schillachi (visual 1)

  7. Would you believe it – Yesterday only I was thinking of putting an id question on Salvatore Schillaci in my blog after some time. And you pip me to it! The connection is “Toto” which was the nickname of WC 90 wonder, Schillaci and is also the nickname of Sébastien Squillaci who got it because of the similarity in the surname.

  8. Visual 1 is Salvatore Schillaci a.k.a Toto. I don’t know the name of the person in the second visial but I am guessing the connect is Toto, the nickname given to Schillaci during Italia 90, where he also scored 6 goals overall.

  11. Dont know the person in the 2nd visual but 1 is Salvatore Schillaci. I think the connection is the “Golden Boot” with 6 goals

  20. I was born in 1930. My parents were of Italian ancestry. As a child my father called me Toto.
    I have tried to find out if Toto is a nickname or has some meaning or its derivation. Can anyone give me an answer?
